Public Enemy Number One

There is something that I encounter on a regular basis that continues to challenge my patience, sanity and general feeling of good-will to my fellow humankind. The frustration and humiliation I feel every time I interact with it is unmatched in any of my other life experiences. In no other area of my life have I had something insult my intelligence so greatly. In no other area of my life have I had something disappoint me so completely.

This, friends, is a summation of my experience with Saran Wrap.

I have never been able to master the art of using Saran Wrap. When I try to take it out of the box, it becomes stuck to the box. When I try to coax it around a sandwich, it becomes tangled up in a ball, stuck to itself. When I try to use it to cover a dish of leftovers, it sticks to my hands and not the dish. One sheet is just shorter than a large dinner plate, thereby requiring the use of two sheets to cover the whopping 3/4" of space still exposed. The built-in-for-my-"convenience" knife cuts my fingers more than it cuts the Saran Wrap. The only time the Saran Wrap acquiesces to glide easily into sheet form from its original rolled up state is when the roll of Saran Wrap has been dropped on the floor by mistake.

I'm switching to Tupperware.

Have you tried Glad Press n'Seal? It is so much easier than Saran Wrap and provides a much better seal. I even found some with multi-colored polka dots at Target the other day. Give it a try & see if it eases your frustrations.

Tupperware is an EXCELLENT choice. But I'm biased, of course. :)

I laughed out loud because Im pretty sure it happens to everyone. How do they keep selling it? Havent we all learned our lesson?

But the Glad containers. Lots of great sizes. If you happen to leave them at a party you won't care because they are a lot cheaper than Tupperware!

Sorry Laura.

Have you noticed that now the cutting edge tends to be on the edge of the lid, rather than on the bottom edge of the box? So every time I open a new box...ouch!

Tupperware is too expensive.....store-brand ziploc baggies for EVERYTHING! And you can fit so much more in both the refrigerator and the freezer because everything lays flat.

Colleen: I have been wanting to try this, but have never been able to convince my husband that it's a legitimate expense. I might just have to pick some up the next time I'm at Target...it's nice to hear from someone who has actually used it.

Laura: I'm trying to break myself of the habit of just being able to throw everything out and not have to cart it back and forth, wash it, etc. Laziness is a surprisingly hard habit to break...

Carolee: I wondered this same thing! Especially with the imitation Tupperware like Gladware they have out now. Why are we still buying this stuff like lemmings?

Mrs. Schmitty: Laura sells Tupperware, so she is slightly biased. I do love the glad containers, but my husband has a tendency to overheat them in the microwave, so ours get pretty deformed quickly. And then I feel so guilty about throwing them out.

Suburban Correspondent: YES!?! Whose bright idea was that anyway? Because a sharp knife is better when more gregariously exposed?

Queen: I feel so guilty for throwing the baggies away though...I wonder if Aluminum Foil is bad for the environment.
